SMUGGLER
Smuggler is the last costume designer of 100% French manufacture. The brand offers tailor-made, highly personalised clothing, with a choice of 800 fabrics and coloured linings. In December 2011, Smuggler obtained the Origine France Garantie label for its costumes, jackets, trousers and vests.
History. The Smuggler brand was created in 1978 in Limousin. But it was in 2000, following the meeting of two men, Gilles Attaf and Serge Bonnefont, that Smuggler's destiny radically changed. Gilles Attaf, President of Smuggler, rethinks and redefines the brand's image. It sets up new models and partners with the France Confection de Limoges workshops to produce top-of-the-range costumes at competitive prices. For his part, Serge Bonnefont, President of France Confection, is developing his workshop in order to set up a production tool that is now unique in France. This gave birth to the company Orphée Longchamp, which includes Smuggler, France Confection and France Pantalons. And, to succeed in continuing to produce in France his jackets, shirts, trousers and accessories, CEO Gilles Attaf has eliminated as many intermediaries as possible, in order to eliminate the cascading margins.
But on 25 January 2017, the costume designer Smuggler based in Limoges (Haute-Vienne) was placed in receivership. In March 2018, the company was acquired by the Parisian group Molitor. This sale was necessary, it will make it possible to safeguard all the Smuggler stores, nine in France and one in Luxembourg, i.e. some twenty jobs.
The products. Smuggler costumes are both classic and unconventional. The linings are very well worked as well as the buttonholes. The brand has launched a range of high-tech suits that fight against the harmful effects of magnetic waves.
