The Hôtel de Beauveau (eighteenth century) bears the name of a War Minister of Louis XVI, Charles-Just Beauveau, who was its first tenant. Acquired by the State in 1859, it was assigned two years later to the services of the Ministry of the Interior. It has never been moved from this location since then, especially since it is located a few dozen metres from the Elysee presidential Palace. As such, the Minister of the Interior is often called the "Beauvau tenant".
