House allowing to discover the main masterpieces of Jean François Millet

It was in this house that the famous artist lived for 25 years until his death in 1875. The first room, the studio, was the birthplace of his main masterpieces(The Angelus, The Gleaners, Man with a Hoe...) and has been preserved in the state his widow left it. In the second room, we can see the amazing fireplace in patinated plaster by David d'Angers. The third room was one of Charles Jacque's workshops. This museum with its hushed rooms is best visited out of season.

Very small atelier/house where Millet painted his artworks and partly lived. There are 3 rooms, you can see a few of his original artworks and belongings including his palette, chair, clocks, religious books, easel etc….

The couple managing this place is so warm and welcoming. They took the time to explain Millet and his way of painting etc… thank you for that!
I highly recommend! I wouldn’t plan more than 30-45min here.
