ÉGLISE SAINT-PIERRE DE BERNAY
Church dedicated to the apostle Peter, built on a small hillock.
Built on a small mound, this church - a historical monument - is dedicated to the apostle Saint Peter. To celebrate the first anniversary of the revolution of 1830, the inhabitants of Bernay planted a poplar tree, the tree of Liberty in front of the building. They asked General de Lafayette to plant it himself as a symbol. A country celebration was organized, followed by a grand ball during which Lafayette was repeatedly acclaimed by the population.
