THE APPLE PRESS
Monumental press in Beton-Bazoches, reflecting the importance of apple-growing and cider-making in the region
This monumental press is unique in the Ile-de-France region. It was built in 1850 by a Compagnon du Tour de France. It worked for a century, reflecting the importance of apple growing in the region and the production of cider. In the fields, the farm workers worked hard for long hours, their only drink was cider. Today, the press has been restored and its machinery and magnificent pignonnerie can be seen. The visit of the place is part of the more global visit of the village via the tourist office of Beton-Bazoches.
