L'HÔTEL CHENEVIÈRES
A vast building set in a bucolic landscape testifying to the village's past
Bordering the Place du Pleux, Hôtel Chenevières is a building whose name recalls the hemp crops that once surrounded the village. In fact, "pleux" was once used to describe the ungrateful soils reputed to be conducive to the aforementioned plant life. This house is part of a group of buildings (wine press, washhouse, etc.) that bear witness to village life and farming activities, at a time when people lived off grain, hay and wood. You can imagine the village as it was in days gone by, lined with vineyards and gardens... A bucolic picture that can also be seen from the château.
