PENNE OLIVE TREE MONUMENT
Monument erected in front of the house where the famous landscape and wildlife painter lived after his stay in Barbizon
A painter and illustrator associated with the Barbizon school, Charles-Olivier de Penne (1831-1897) became famous for his historical paintings, his depictions of animals and, in particular, his hunting scenes. The painter settled in Bourron-Marlotte in the 1870s, where he had his home, nicknamed "Le verger", and his studio, in front of which now stands this elegant bronze bust by sculptor Arthur Le Duc, dating from 1903.
