BIG OAK SITE
This site, with its playground and picnic area, is a great place to spend time with family and friends
Of this centuries-old tree, felled by lightning in 1913, only the trunk remains, protected by a tin roof. Saint Arbogast is said to have lived here as a hermit before becoming bishop of Strasbourg in the 6th century. Since then, homage has been paid to him on July 21, in the chapel built in 1955. In the heart of Haguenau's remarkable forest, the big oak is the starting point for several signposted trails. One of them is designed for people with reduced mobility. A playground and picnic area are also available for family and friends.
