Museum in Haguenau, housing administrative documents and the town's treasury, with a collection of ancient Alsatian artifacts
Here, in the former chancellery of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, imperial letters and decrees were sealed. This central location also housed the city's administrative documents and treasury. The museum now houses a collection of antique Alsatian objects, including polychrome furniture, pottery, textiles, traditional costumes and kacheloffe (a wood-burning heater covered with ceramic tiles). The setting is superb and the explanations clear and precise: you'll learn a lot, even if you're Alsatian!
