THE COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT-MARTIN
An abbey transformed around 1065 into a beautiful collegiate church, home to a famous college attended by illustrious theologians.
Renovated in 2007, the abbey was founded in the 7th century by Saint Fare and was transformed, around 1065, into a collegiate church dedicated to Saint Martin by Guillaume de Champeaux. The most beautiful religious building in the Brie region, it remains the only witness to a famous college where illustrious theologians from all over Europe, eager to listen to the teaching of the philosopher, gathered. The oldest parts of the building date back to the 12th century. The whole, completed at the beginning of the 14th century, was enriched during the Renaissance.
