MAMIAS
Mamias is one of the few companies to exercise the profession of campanist by developing the first electrical equipment for ringing bells. Its expertise of excellence was recently recognized by the Entreprise du patrimoine vivant label.
History. The Mamias company was founded in 1927 at the request of the priest of Gagny who sought to ensure the ringing of his bells in an automatic way. Emile Mamias, taking up the challenge, developed the first electromechanical flight motor. This system, which was immediately patented, allowed the company to develop rapidly and electrify the ringtones of the world's largest churches and cathedrals.
Thanks to this experience, Mamias has developed a recognized know-how in the fields of monumental watchmaking and bell ringing. Today, combining tradition and heritage preservation, but also technological innovation, it operates in the field of bell towers, as well as in the protection of property and people, in sound and heating.
Today, it shares its skills with another campanist, Biard-Roy, a company based in the Normandy region.
Achievements. Mamias has broad skills in terms of woodworking (carpenter), metalworking (metalworker, turner), mechanics, electromechanics, watchmaking and restoration... Mamias restores systems of ancient mechanisms, and has also created the tidal clock.
Employment. A dozen employees for a turnover of about 1.5 million euros for the year 2017.
