TEMPLAR COMMANDERY
Commanderie de Coulommiers, with dwelling, chapel, barn, garden and hospital.
The Commandery of Coulommiers was founded around 1173. It was then the property of the Knights Templar until 1307, when they were arrested. It was at the same time the residence of the monk-soldiers, a place of training, a place of prayer, and even an agricultural estate. Today, its dwellings, its chapel, its barn and its garden contrast sharply with the buildings of the neighborhood and the hospital located just beside. Its flourishing garden is best enjoyed in the spring.
