THE MEDIEVAL GARDEN
Garden designed by Christophe Grunenwald in the tradition of the Middle Ages, with medicinal and aromatic plants
Located in the former cloister of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, this garden was designed by landscape architect Christophe Grunenwald in the medieval tradition so dear to Hildegarde de Bingen's remedy-lovers. Representing life, death and paradise, it is composed of twelve rectangles evoking the apostles and the months of the year. In keeping with tradition, it includes "simples" or medicinal and aromatic plants (rosemary, fennel, etc.). The number four, very much in evidence along the way, refers to the seasons, the elements and the evangelists.
