The Donnemarie-Dontilly lime kiln, visible from the old Mons road and listed as a historic monument, dates back to the 19th century. It bears witness to the trades and crafts of a time when limestone quarries were plentiful around the village. House facades and walls were coated with lime. The kiln was used to transform extracted limestone into lime. You can see the kilns still intact on the lower floor, buried in the mound. Just like its brick-encased opening.
