DIANE FOUNTAIN
Diane's fountain gives its name to this garden in the Château de Fontainebleau.
If you visit the Château de Fontainebleau and its park, we strongly recommend you visit the Jardin de Diane, which under Louis Philippe was still an area enclosed by an orangery built during the reign of Henri IV. In the center, you'll find the Fontaine de Diane, a basin surmounted by a statue of the goddess accompanied by a deer. The podium features 4 seated dogs and 4 stag heads signed Pierre Biard (1603). Built by T. Francini in 1603, it was stripped of its bronzes during the French Revolution, before being restored to its original state under Napoleon1st.
