DOMAINE DE CHAMPGUEFFIER
The estate hosts weddings and receptions as well as film shoots
In the 12th century, the Seigneury of Champgueffier depended on the Chatellerie de Provins. The oldest known Lord is P. A. de Champ Garfier around 1170. In the Middle Ages, the site was the seat of an important fortress. At the end of the 16th century, a castle with a paved courtyard bordered by long outbuildings was the fief of Tristan de Verdelot, with a 15-hectare park surrounded by moats which are still partly visible. Jacques de Flesselles, squire, counsellor, secretary to the king, had himself acquired the lordships of Champgueffier and La Chapelle Iger, from the Marquis d'Orsay in 1749. In 1773, the stone bridge of the castle gate was built. The building, poorly maintained during the Revolution, was in poor condition and would have fallen victim to a fire. General Eugène Dubern (1802-1870), grandson of Louis de Boislandry (1750-1834) who had acquired the estate in 1800, commissioned the reconstruction of the castle in the early 1860's.
When the current owners took over the estate of Champgueffier in 2000, it belonged to the Dubern family. The new owners who are farmers, lovers of beautiful stones, venture out with the wish to revive the site. After 4 years of renovation, the Van de Kerchove family has started to welcome weddings and receptions. They welcome you by appointment to help you discover this magical place and build your dream reception... The estate is also used as a location for film making.
