ST. ROMAN CHURCH
Dedicated to Saint Romain d'Antioche, this church blends Romanesque architecture with Gothic from the and centuries
Built on the site of a former convent, the church at La Ferté Gaucher, dedicated to Saint Romain d'Antioche, martyred in Rome in 258, combines Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Although altered in the 19th century, some of the original "parts" are still intact. However, the spire, struck by lightning in 1734, was never replaced. The church underwent renovation work just a few years ago. Following damage caused by the storm of 1999 and the fire of 2002, the municipality undertook a complete restoration of the monument in 2004.
