FORMER ABBEY OF SAINT-PIERRE
The Saint-Pierre abbey with a central open-air garden surrounded by a cloister, houses a town hall and an abbey church
Founded by Saint Fursy in the 7th century, it was ravaged two centuries later before being rebuilt in the 10th century. Since 1842, it has housed the town hall. In the meantime, the abbey suffered the wrath of the Calvinists in 1567, when one of the nails from the cross of Christ donated by Robert le Pieux disappeared. The current buildings date from the 18th century, with the exception of the abbey church and the 13th-century fortified entrance. Inside, a cloister surrounds the central open-air garden.
