SAINT-FURSY FOUNTAIN
Fountain adjacent to the Cinq Pignons building, with a carved basin and capital
Located in the middle of the Place de la Fontaine, its basin was sculpted in the 12th century and its capital in the 12th century. The three bronze heads that allow the water to flow out were added in 1523. Under the rue du Docteur-Naudier, in a 12th-century vaulted room, flows a spring that feeds the fountain and whose origin is attributed to Saint Fursy. Not far from the fountain is the beautiful façade of the Cinq Pignons building, which in the Middle Ages housed the former merchants of the town of Ypres during the Lagny fairs, and today houses the tourist office.
