LE LAVOIR - RUE SAINT-PAUL
Visit the Planchette washhouse, built at a time when major renovations were taking place in the town center
The Planchette washhouse was built in 1834. This larger washhouse was intended to replace the various small washhouses that were arranged around the Saint-Fursy fountain. Not far from the washhouse is a 16th-century external staircase and the Maison du Roy, where Louis XIV spent a night in 1683. At the beginning of the street, you'll find the former arquebusiers' house, which in the 18th century became the property of Madame Auchard, nursemaid to the King of Rome.
