FONTAINE SAINT-MATHURIN
Fountain in the form of a small basin fed by a spring, located in the woods near the Larchant church.
Situated on a hillside in the woods outside the village, around 600 m north of the church, it probably dates back to the origins of the village. Nestled beneath a small stone aedicula, probably built several times, it takes the form of a small basin fed by a spring. Whether it's the persistence of a Gallic water cult or the miracle of 3rd-century healer St. Mathurin, it was the object of numerous devotions in the Middle Ages that continue to this day. As such, it is an integral part of Larchant's heritage.
