HENRI CAPU MUSEUM
Museum exhibiting drawings, terracottas, marbles, bronzes and many original plasters
Dedicated to Henri Chapu (1833-1891), the great 19th-century sculptor who contributed to the decoration of numerous monuments (Opera House, sculptures in the grounds of the Château de Chantilly...), this museum, created in 1887, a few years before his death, brings together the works this sculptor had donated to his native village, Le Mée-sur-Seine, from 1865 onwards. Among his creations are decorations for monuments such as the Opéra theater and the Printemps department store. Also on display are drawings, terracottas, marbles, bronzes and numerous original plaster casts.
