FERME COMMUNAUTAIRE JEAN-JACQUES BARBAUX
Community farm housing the Communauté de Communes du Val Briard headquarters, offices and community services
The foundation stone was laid by Jean-Jacques Barbaux, the late President of the Seine-et-Marne Departmental Council, on March 12, 2016. After a monumental project involving talented architects and craftsmen, this highly successful restoration of a former Briard farmhouse has become the nerve center of the Val Briard, at least in its administrative and cultural dimensions. With a surface area of 5,000 m² on 7 ha of land, the community farm houses the headquarters of the Communauté de Communes du Val Briard, its offices and community services: public transport, childminder relay, cultural services, home-delivered meals, etc. Inhabitants can come here to carry out their administrative formalities concerning employment, retirement, family and social benefits, health, housing, etc. The site has a large parking lot and access to a theme trail through a wooded area. In addition, there are occasional events, such as festive get-togethers and local farmers' markets. The site hosts artists in residence and provides high-quality cultural programming, a rehearsal room, painting, sculpture and visual arts workshops, and much more besides. In the long term, it will become an attractive center for the region and a ferment for culture, artistic creation and tourism. Coming to the Val Briard to stay for an artistic event will now make perfect sense. The economic dimension has also not been forgotten. A 150-hectare site on the outskirts of the farm has been acquired for an extension to the Val Bréon business park in Châtres, a neighboring commune of Les Chapelles-Bourbon.
More than any other project, the new headquarters of the Val Briard community of communes embodies the vision of Jean-Jacques Barbaux, who has found here the impetus needed to give new impetus to the region, and provide it with services that are up to the task, capable both of offering help and support on a day-to-day basis, and of providing a third place of expression for local arts and crafts. The former farmhouse is also home to a day-care center, filling a real need, as well as a new 700-seat auditorium, due to open in 2023. And to ensure the continuity of the site, Laurence Barbaux, Jean-Jacques' widow, is godmother of the premises;
