Palace with French garden in Meaux, a historic site housing the Bossuet Museum and Fine Arts collections

The Bossuet Museum, located in the former episcopal palace, bears the name of the famous theologian Bossuet, bishop of Meaux from 1681 to 1704. This vast monument, combining medieval and Renaissance architecture, houses collections of paintings and sculptures, as well as objects testifying to the history of the Meaux region from Antiquity to the 20th century. Gallo-Roman and medieval collections reveal the importance of Meaux and its region over 2,000 years ago.

Sinceramente non consiglio questo museo a meno che non parliate francese, perché non c'è un'etichetta, un cartello o un volantino in inglese da nessuna parte (men che meno in altre lingue), per cui la visita è molto superficiale dato che non si può sapere nulla sulle opere. Inoltre l'uomo alla biglietteria non era affatto preparato sul costo stesso dei biglietti: c'è una riduzione per studenti, giovani under 26, disoccupati e over 65, ma lui sosteneva che non fosse così, non so se per la barriera linguistica (in quanto non parlava affatto inglese) o perché effettivamente non sapeva i prezzi (cosa che in ogni caso non mi sembra corretta). Il palazzo in sé è bello e anche i giardini sono carini, però sconsiglio l'ingresso ai turisti non francesi perché non ha senso pagare per non poter leggere niente.
