FORMER ABBEY OF THE HOLY FATHERS
Go there and contact
The Benedictine abbey of the Saints-Pères houses an isolated cloister with its 35 m high arcades and a bell tower of Saint-Barthélemy
Founded in Carolingian times, one side of the Benedictine abbey's arcaded cloister remains. Standing alone, the only vestige of the parish church, the 35-metre-high bell tower of Saint-Barthélemy was used in 1755 by the famous cartographer Cassini to draw up the map of France. Melun's oldest monastery, it is now home to the Hôtel du Département. Please note, however, that the abbey is currently closed.
