JOURNÉES NAOPOLÉON
A spectacular reconstruction of the battle that pitted Napoleon against Austrian and Württemberg soldiers in 1814.
On February 18, 1814, Montereau was the scene of one of Napoleon I's last victories. A major event, it saw an army of 5,000 to 6,000 Austrian and Württemberg soldiers stationed beneath the town walls and pillage the surrounding area. Today, every two years, the town of Montereau-Fault-Yonne organizes a commemoration of this incredible battle. This includes a spectacular re-enactment of the confrontations, with hundreds of extras from all over Europe dressed in period costume.
