A watchtower symbol of the omnipotence of the Counts of Champagne and a place of refuge, watchtower or prison in Provins.

The creation of Provins would date from the Roman time, and the legend specifies that the construction of the first watchtower would be the fact of a decision of Julius Caesar! The Caesar tower that we see today was built in the 12th century by Henry I the Liberal. This dungeon, symbol of the power of the Counts of Champagne, was a place of refuge, a watchtower or a prison. Through the audiovisual scenography, projected in the different rooms of the tower, the visit will immerse you in the daily life of the keep of 8 centuries ago. Fascinating!

La tour César est un monument que l'on repère de loin. Et la visite vaut le coup! Passage étroit mais la vue que l'on a d'en haut vaut ascension.

De loin, c'est une très belle tour qui se dessine, de près aussi. Et quand on la visite jusqu'en haut, une vue unique sur Provins. Mais attention, la tour est haute et l'accès est étroit à certains endroits et cela mériterait d'être mentionné. c'est pour autant un endroit inoubliable quand on visite Provins.

Cette tour et la charpente de la toiture sont dans un état impeccable. À l’intérieur, une intéressante projection – en son et lumières – de l’histoire de la tour est organisée. L’accès à la partie supérieure demeure quelque peu étroit mais, tout en haut, la vue sur la cité médiévale est vraiment splendide !
