Tithe barn with typical stone façade, used as a covered market for Champagne fairs, tithe warehouse
This 13th-century stone-fronted barn was used as a covered market during the Champagne fairs. It comprised an upper floor used as a store, a lower room with a pointed vault and carved capitals, and several living quarters. In the 17th century, it was used as a tithe warehouse. In addition to its architecture, there's a permanent exhibition featuring mannequins representing merchants and trades of the Middle Ages: moneychanger, public letter-writer, potter, stonecutter, parchment-maker, and more.
