Until 1950, the factory of moulins grinding flourished in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre. Considered the best grinding in the world, they were exported worldwide. And this industry used more than 4 000 Fertois. In 2007, the city of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre decided to buy the largest European collection of objects (tools, postcards, old documents) on the meulière, consitutée over the years by Jacques Beauvois, a local personality. Passionate, this Seine-and-Marnais anime hosts visits at home, in Reuil-en-Brie. At the same place as all its collection is preserved. A beautiful way to revive the meulier heritage and to make visitors discover an industrial past so rich, yet so unknown.
