LA STATUE DE LA LIBERTÉ
A statue of the republic, in painted slit, dating from 1891, located on boulevard Victor-Hugo, in Rozay-en-Brie.
This painted cast iron statue, created in 1891, was originally erected on Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, and then moved to Boulevard Victor-Hugo in 1964. You will discover that it is not only a Statue of Liberty but much more of a statue of the Republic. Indeed, if the torch and the posture recall the work of Bartholdi, there is a flagrant difference. The Rozay Statue of Liberty holds the torch in its left hand, while the Paris Statue of Liberty holds it in its right hand.
