SAINT-LOUP CHURCH
This magnificent church was founded in 980 by the archbishop of Sens.
A masterpiece of Romanesque art, this magnificent church, with its superb portal executed around 1160, was founded in 980 by the Archbishop of Sens. The choir and aisles were built in the 11th century, and the rest of the nave around 1170. The latter is a tribute to Saint Loup, depicted with the evangelists and figures from the Old Testament. It wasn't until 1846 that the church was listed as a Monument Historique. Today, it has been partially restored (notably its famous portal) and retains all its evocative power.
