ROYAL ABBEY - NOTRE DAME DE CERCANCEAUX
Abbey of the monks of Citeaux in Souppes, open for events, exhibitions and visits organized by the tourist office.
Founded in 1181, this Cistercian abbey became a paper mill during the French Revolution, and remained so until 1926, when it was classified as a historic monument. Now privately owned, the abbey is open to the public for events, exhibitions, etc. The chapel, mill hall, 13th-century barn, fruit press and gardens are all reminders of the religious and secular activities once carried out by the monks.
