Limestone bench used to build the aqueduct that brings water from the Bezonde springs to the nearby site.
The limestone bed has been quarried since Gallo-Roman times to build the aqueduct that carries water from the Bezonde springs to the nearby site of Sceaux du Gâtinais. The quarry later played an important role in the construction of Parisian monuments such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, the Sorbonne and Landowsky's statue of Sainte-Geneviève. The quarry is still in operation. Tours available.
