We are telling you about it because our little finger tells us that this site, which does not look like much, stuck between Villeneuve-le-Compte and Villages Nature Paris, along the D231, is destined to become a good spot for bird lovers! You can easily find its small lake at the exit of Villeneuve, near the roundabout, by car or by bike via the simplified network of bicycle paths newly installed for residents of the natural village. At first glance, no one wants to stop there because of the proximity of the road, the constant passage of cars, and the difficulty of parking (there are still a few places on the roadside). But it is also what makes it so interesting because onlookers are rare, so birds come to rest and eat without embarrassment, especially from the opposite bank where small mudflats and rose gardens are beginning to develop. For the moment we have spotted some great cormorants, egrets, herons, numerous Canada geese, harriers, swans, black-headed gulls, coots, and many starlings who do not hesitate to reward us with their spectacular flights. But this population is expected to grow and diversify. The lake being oriented east-west, the morning and evening lights sublimate the site: perfect for making beautiful images and quality observations. Shrubs have been planted all around to thicken the vegetation and protect cars. The future will tell us whether or not the place will keep all its promises.
