CHÂTEAU DU BREUIL
19th century stone and brick castle, part of a parish including the Breuil farm and a Petit Breuil
An old fortified house is mentioned at this place as early as 1500. It is now a stone and brick castle, built in the 19th century, which is a very nice landmark. Le Breuil was originally part of the parish of Rozay, but was detached to form a separate parish. It was an independent structure consisting of a castle, the Ferme du Breuil and a Petit Breuil, the whole set being fortified and surrounded by ditches. The oldest lord found in the archives is Guillaume du Breuil who was ennobled in 1320 by King Philippe Le Long.
