The Rosny fort was built between 1840 and 1846 on a plot of land of more than 25 ha, and is one of the sixteen detached enclosures wanted by Thiers who were protecting the capital at the time. It is a construction with four bastions set in a rectangle measuring approximately 400 m by 340 m, the main axis of which faces from west to east. The fort and its eastern projection were protected by ditches up to 16 m wide, dug between escarpments and masonry counterscarps. The 10 m high escarpments were topped by a 4.5 m thick earthen embankment, arranged to allow the fireworks to be fired. Two open tanks in the middle of the curtains, one to the north and the other to the south, made it possible to reach the ditches. These ditches were filled with water from the slopes of the Old Mountain. Until 2015, it housed the National Gendarmerie's criminal research institute, which was transferred to Pontoise, leaving its place to the National Judicial Police Training Centre.
