Built in 1902, the theater was once a municipal village hall. It took on its present name in 1960, in tribute to the famous actor, and gradually began to focus on the presentation of contemporary texts. Referred to by the acronym TGP, it also offers a wide range of workshops, and is involved in numerous initiatives with local associations. It is also home to the Saint-Denis Jazz Club, which offers regular concerts. The TGP also boasts a restaurant, Cuisine Club, and a bookshop, La P'tite Denise.
