FESTIVAL DIDIER LOCKWOOD
Go there and contact
The principle of this festival, called the Didier Lockwood Festival since the artist's death in February 2018, is formidable. Many musette and gypsy jazz musicians play in the streets and bars of the Puces de Saint-Ouen during a weekend. These artists, joined by song stars, are in direct contact with the public, which does not happen very often. A major concert concludes this sympathetic seduction operation conducted towards the general public and sponsored until his death by Didier Lockwood, an internationally renowned musician who played with Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, John Mac Laughlin and Stéphane Grappelli, among others, excuse me for a moment! The starting point of this festival was the Rencontres manouches, in 2004, at the Théâtre Café Picolo, with Didier Lockwood of course, but also Thomas Dutronc, Aldo Frank and "Ninine" Garcia. The first edition of the Festival Jazz Musette took place in 2005 and was a real success. In addition to gypsy musicians, this event is open to "big names" who take it beyond the genre and constantly make it evolve. These include Thomas Dutronc, Christian Escoude, Richard Galliano, Biréli Lagrene, Olivia Ruiz and Sanseverino.
