COVERED WASHES
A place full of flowers, a traditional element, ideal for a walk through the city's heritage
Not far from the town hall, this covered washhouse was built in 1832 to replace an older one that had become too small (rue de la Fontaine). Sheltered by a tiled roof supported by a wooden framework, it was built of millstone and limestone. You can go inside and discover the rainwater recovery system that still feeds it. Set against a backdrop of flowers, it's a traditional feature of Brie villages, and a favorite strolling spot for many locals, who like to take a break here.
