SAINT CHRISTOPHER CHURCH
This church was built according to the principles of Romanesque art, and expanded in the Gothic style in the 12th and 13th centuries
A veritable sentinel, 30 meters high, the church of Saint-Christophe has watched over Créteil for nine hundred years. Its bell tower was fortified into a dungeon at the end of the 11th century to serve as a refuge for the people of Créteil in case of an emergency. First built according to the principles of Romanesque art, it was enlarged in the Gothic style in the 12th and 13th centuries to include the crypt containing the relics of the martyrs Agoard and Aglibert. It was renovated several times during the 19th and 20thcenturies . The last of its three bells was installed in 1992.
