UPPER HOUSE CASTLE
This castle now houses the town hall and municipal services of Sucy-en-Brie
The history of this 17th century castle was marked by the personality of one of its illustrious owners, Ludovic Halévy (1834-1908), who bought it in 1893. He was the librettist of Carmen by Georges Bizet and of Offenbach's operettas(La Vie parisienne, La Périchole, La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein...). Acquired by the municipality in 1976, the building now houses the town hall, whose wedding room is absolutely sublime (like the architectural ensemble), and the municipal services of Sucy-en-Brie, which thus benefit from a prestigious setting.
