SUCY-EN-BRIE CASTLE
17th century castle with interior decoration by Le Brun, Le Sueur and Van Obstal, housing the municipal conservatory
This 17th century castle was built for Nicolas Lambert, the son of an adviser to King Louis XIII, according to the plans of the architect François Le Vau, brother of Louis Le Vau, architect of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles. The interior decoration is by Le Brun, Le Sueur and Van Obstal. Abandoned in 1955, it was the victim of numerous lootings before being bought back by the city in 1969 and renovated. Classified as a historical monument in 1975, it now houses the municipal conservatory where drama and music classes are held.
