THE CELLAR
Fully cross-ribbed cellar housing a jazz center and hosting concerts for up to 80 people.
It is the only remaining example of the beautiful vaulted medieval cellars that once sheltered Argenteuil. The cellar is entirely covered with ribbed vaults resting on massive pillars topped with sober Gothic-style capitals. It was probably a refuge from a medieval abbey. The name "dîmière" was only given to it in the 19th century: the tithe would have been stored here. Since 2007, the restored cellar has been home to a center for jazz and improvised music. It can accommodate up to 80 people for acoustic concerts.
