THE MAN OF THE 20TH CENTURY
Man of the century, with a huge face, wanted to symbolize a new breath for a peaceful world
Bombed during the war, Argenteuil was rebuilt in the 1950s. It was in this context that the immense mural fresco that crowns the city's cultural center was created, and which will be its perfect incarnation. Composed of chamotte clay and ceramics, it was created jointly by Edouard Pignon and the ceramist Michel Rivière. This monumental work of 50 meters in length required nearly a year of construction. This man of the 20th century, with a disproportionate face, wanted to symbolize a new breath for a peaceful world.
