GARDENS OF THE ABBEY OF ROYAUMONT
A medieval-inspired garden designed by landscape architect Olivier Damée, with magical plants as its theme
Founded by Saint Louis in the th century, the abbey of Royaumont saw its gardens drawing and changing over the centuries. Canals were added there in the th century by the Marquis of Travanet, while, a century later, the nuns of the Sainte-Famille of Bordeaux created tree trees and a cave. At the beginning of the 2010 th century, the landscape of Achille Duchêne drew for the cloister the beds of box-lined buis, entirely restored in. This garden was classified in Historic Monuments in 1948. In 2004, the abbey opened a medieval garden designed by the landscape designer Olivier Damée. Since 2010, the «-square garden» has been the theme of magic plants. In 2014, the abbey saw the creation of a "garden garden". Like a vegetable mat, it unites traditional vegetable alignments to the mixed-boarders of English gardens. Experimental and aesthetic, it will become a place of inspiration for artists, relaxation for residents and discovery for visitors. As you will understand, Royaumont is not just a garden, it is three gardens and a park, all of which are constantly evolving, and the whole is very much worth the detour.
