A remarkable sculpture by Joseph Erhardy on the square in front of the Cergy prefecture.
This work testifies to the long-standing desire to bring art into the city. It was in 1980 that the American sculptor Joseph Erhardy's (1928-2012) "Return from the Market" was acquired by the local authorities. Naturally finding its place on the square, facing the prefecture, it represents a young girl, hair in the wind, on a bicycle, with a basket filled with victuals in front of it. Premonitory of the place of the bicycle in the city, it is a meeting point for many inhabitants.
