NOTRE DAME CHURCH
The church Notre-Dame was built in the xie century at the location of an old building that would have housed the body of Saint Eugene, which according to legend was found intact after a stay of several centuries in Lake Marchais. This Romanesque construction will be redesigned in a Gothic style in the thirteenth century; the choir, exceptional by its two rows of columns, would have been inspired by that of Notre-Dame de Paris. The church will be converted to xviie and xixe. Following the fall of a German V 2 in 1944 (these huge and monstrous rockets, able to travel hundreds of kilometers and cause immense damage, as was the case here), it was severely damaged, which required important restoration work. She still has remarkable Romanesque histories. One of the keystones represents the abbey of the abbey of Saint-Florent de Saumur, the priory of Mouril.
