It is a pleasure to walk through the Forêt forest, during an excursion to the National Renaissance museum, or to an orientation race, following a course set up by the commune (downloadable on the local website). This forest occupies the west and southwest slopes of the castle on which the castle is built and develops on 105 ha. It consists mainly of oaks and chestnut trees. Today, ownership of the Chancellery of the Legion of Honour is a former area reserved for hunting. It is adjacent to the large castle park, designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. We are still amazed by the striking contrast between the tranquillity of this superb place and the immediate proximity of Paris, only 15 km away.
