It passes through three of the region's communes along the river: this popular route links Paris to the English Channel.
As its name suggests, the route follows the course of the river: the La Seine à Vélo itinerary takes you from the capital to the English Channel, following the river for 500 kilometers and taking in some incredible scenery. From the boatmen of the Seine to the World Heritage city of Le Havre, via Les Andelys and Rouen, the route passes through a wide variety of places, all of which are must-see stops. More than a third of the route is dedicated to cyclists, with the remainder in shared use, either as cycle lanes or on low-traffic roads. Today, the route is divided into 15 stages, giving everyone the possibility of completing all or part of it. On the territory of the Val Parisis Agglomeration Community (which is "co-creator" of this route, also known as "V33"), the second part of the itinerary runs along the river. In addition to Cormeilles-en-Parisis and La Frette-sur-Seine, La Seine à Vélo passes through Herblay-sur-Seine. Between the hills and the Seine, the route here is clearly marked and well signposted, and all the easier to follow as it follows the Seine for just a few metres. Here, you can take your time to follow your itinerary through lands marked by Impressionism, in a rural setting dotted with small bars and restaurants. When the weather's fine, you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the ferries on the Seine - giving you the chance to reach the other bank - as well as the activities of the Herblay yacht club, and the eponymous island, a biodiversity sanctuary unique in the area. On sunny days, seasoned cyclists stop here for a break in a splendid setting before heading back upstream or downstream, and many occasional cyclists also follow the route, for a Sunday outing (children's play areas and picnic areas are also available) or on their way to work, for example. In fact, the Val Parisis cycling plan not only focuses on the La Seine à Vélo route, but more generally on the development of these modes of transport in the area, enabling everyone, whatever the reason for their trip, to take full advantage of it! And if you'd like to rent a bike for a ride along the route, there are several rental companies in the Communauté d'Agglomération area!
