L'ÎLE D'HERBLAY-SUR-SEINE
Île d'Herblay-sur-Seine, a biodiversity reserve home to around a hundred plant species, as well as a number of mammals and birds.
This area is inaccessible and completely off-limits to visitors, yet when you pass along the quays of Herblay-sur-Seine, you'll catch a glimpse of the eponymous island, over a kilometer long and a favorite of early 19th-century photographers. The Val-d'Oise department has just decided to turn it into a biodiversity reserve, which will be scientifically monitored. Home to some 100 plant species, it will also be a resting place for numerous birds and mammals.
